I’m thinking about switching to Vonage for my home phone service? I’ve read that the quality of the sound isn’t all that good. But I’ve also read that it is on par with regular copper wire phone service?

Any personal experience with Vonage you could share would be appreciated. I’d rather hear it from the consumers themselves.

She is a homemaker and her husband is a carpenter Their mortgage is $850.00 a month not including lights, gas, water, sewer, plus other necessities. They already had one of those other phone companies that let them down. Now they have to buy minutes on an old-fashioned cellular phone. We live in the U.S. and have a family plan (three phones on our service). We need about 800 minutes per month (U.S.); but travel internationally several times per year and would like a phone that works internationally.

We have friends that we visit overseas and some occasions to work overseas. For example, over Christmas we were lost in Germany trying to find out friend’s home. It would have been worth a lot to have been able to call them from our car for a few minutes and get directions…so, the cost of the international roaming isn’t the biggest concern. We wouldn’t be using it that often; but when we needed it, we would want it to be reliable. We travel worldwide - so a plan with the most coverage (Europe, Asia) would be best.

We also want a reasonable rate on our family plan, since this is really what we use the most. Thoughts?
